The Gilmer County Genealogical Society, Inc. actually began with the publication of its first book Heritage of Gilmer County 1932-1996, which, unfortunately, is unavailable and no longer in print. After the publication of the book, the editors decided to form The Gilmer County Genealogical Society, Inc.
