Monthly Meeting:

April 12th at the Gilmer County Library
We are very excited to have Marian Presswood of Polk County, Tennessee as our guest speaker for the this Thursday's monthly meeting of the Gilmer County Genealogy Society at the Gilmer County Library. Ms. Presswood is a retired educator, the official County Historian & Archivist, Pres. of the 400 member Polk County Historical & Genealogical Society, founder/editor of the PCHGS Quarterly, and the History of Polk County, and 4 day a week volunteer at the genealogy library she established in Benton, Tennessee. Among other distinctions, she is the former heritage columnist for the local newspaper, the "Polk County News," and has helped numerous people to "find their Grandpa!" Or in her own words, "Here's a crazy woman who has spent the last 30 or so years trying to help preserve the history of Polk County and its people and she's here to tell you about some of the 'soap opera' families she's researched, what resources she used and what she learned from it all that might also help you as you preserve your own precious family heritage." Join us for what promises to be an informative and entertaining presentation! Refreshments will be served at 1:30 p.m. and the meeting begins at 2:00 p.m.  Everyone Welcome!
